Chen Zhili, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, met Friday with the new United Nations Resident Coordinator in China Renata Lok Dessallien.

Dessallien assumed office early May this year to succeed Khalid Malik, whose term concluded in April. She also serves as the new UN Development Program Representative in China.

Earlier Friday, Chen also met in Beijing with a delegation from the European Parliament.

Led by Monika Hohlmeier, member of the Parliament and former Education Minister of the German federal state of Bavaria, the delegation exchanged views with Chen on Sino-European ties and Sino-German educational cooperation.
